One of the most annoying questions that people ask when they see a good picture is “what camera did you use?”. Why? Well, just as the quote above says, it’s not about the gear. I’ve never heard of people asking what a best-selling author used to create his/her great novel.
This seems to be a stereotypical question that needs to be scrapped. I do photography as a hobby hoping to make a career out of it. It pains me to hear people ask me about my gear rather than just giving a critique of the image.
The truth is, it might sound more offensive than complimentary to photographers.
