Mayweather Jr. Coming out of Retirement.

Just today, I read an article by ESPN.com‘s Dan Rafael saying that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is coming out of retirement probably by July 11, 2009. Seems like he’s coming back to reclaim him title as Pound-for-Pound King.

The article also says that he’s willing to face anybody who wants to fight him. Well, except Oscar Dela Hoya. Apparently, he doesn’t want to have a rematch with the Golden Boy anymore. He mentioned that he’d want to face either who ever wins the Pacquiao-Hatton Mega Fight, Shane Mosley, or Juan Manuel Marquez. Although the one fight that he’d most definitely want is against the Current Pound-for-Pound King Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao.

A fight that would most probably be one to be part of boxing history. The possible fight would be for the Pound-for Pound title and definitely for the money. Both fighters would probably earn the biggest amount compared to all their fights if it pushes through.

He may be undefeated (W:39-L:0, 25 Wins by KO) but Mayweather had not stepped into the boxing ring to fight since December of 2007. His last fight was on December 8, 2007 against Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton where he won via TKO at 2:35 of the 10th round. Prior to this fight, he fought Oscar “The Golden Boy” Dela Hoya and won via an unimpressive Split Decision.

Manny Pacquiao had Oscar Dela Hoya give up in the 8th round of their fight December last year.
